Arts Management Woes: My Journey, My Road Bumps In 2019, we partnered with SDA Bocconi Asia Center for a series of discussions
exploring Arts Management in India. The first set of events titled “Arts Management Woes: My Journey, My Road Bumps” were conducted across two cities Delhi and Mumbai on 25, 28 March 2019 respectively.
In Delhi, our stellar panelists included Priyanshi Saxena (Founder/Director, Indian Art Market), Sushma K Bahl (Arts Advisor, Writer & Curator), Umah Jacob (Director, External Relations and Outreach, India Art Fair), Varun Jain (Trustee, Sanskriti Foundation) and Virkein Dhar (Founder, Poppy Seed Lab).
While in Mumbai, Deepthi Sasidharan (Eka Resources), Preema John (Associate Director, Asia Society India Center), Rafael Pereira (Co-founder, The Mumbai Assembly), Niloufer Sagar (Arts Manager & Producer), Dianne Tauro (Manager, Godrej India Culture Lab), Divya Bhatia (Artistic Director & Producer) and Toral Shah (Creative Producer, QTP) participated in the discussions.
The panel in both these discussions shared about their entry into and journeys across the culture sector. Their unique career trajectories opened up a discourse around needs, barriers and concerns around careers in arts in India, with audience members freely stepping into the discussion and claiming their places at the table.
